Starting July 1, Ellen Daye-Williams will become the District Manager of Student Discipline and Attendance. She has most recently served as principal at Jackson Elementary School. Responsibilities of the new position will include the Equity Site Visit from the Iowa Department of Education scheduled for the 2015-2016 school year.
Also starting July 1, Jim Girdner will become Principal of both Madison Elementary School and Jackson Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year. Girdner has served as Madison Principal since 2004. Supporting him in this work at Madison will be Angela Foster, Instructional Design Strategist. Supporting him at Jackson will be Annie Bradford, Special Education Facilitator.
“Together the three of them will continue to lead both Madison and Jackson in great teaching and learning,” noted Val Dolezal, Executive Administrator of Preschool – 8th grade. “During the winter of 2016 we will be working through the process of finding a replacement for the Jackson Elementary Principal position.”
“During the upcoming school year, I will need to be mindful of something I tell students almost daily, ‘Hard work and effort is how you learn; go work hard,” noted Girdner in a communication to parents. “I will be working with Jackson staff to learn the history, goals, and actions set in motion. I will work to build relationships in order to continue their good work, improve instruction and learning, and build toward greater achievement for all.”
“Jackson School is a wonderful place and I’m confident that as parents and staff continue to work collaboratively, the expected outcome will be students who are respectful, responsible, and ready to meet any and all future challenges,” said Daye-Williams in a communication to parents.
