Administrator Assignments Approved by Board

GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MonicaFrey Monica Frey will become Grant Elementary School Principal.  She has served as interim principal since July, 2013.  She was previously a District facilitator at Grant and Wilson schools.

GRANT WOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Cindy Stock will serve as Principal at Grant Wood Elementary School.  She has been Principal at Van Buren for six years and has also served as a facilitator at Van Buren and a teacher at Wilson and Polk elementary schools. She replaces Ellen Daye-Williams who will become Jackson Elementary School Principal.

JACKSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Ellen Daye-Williams will become Principal at Jackson Elementary School. She has been Principal at Grant Wood Elementary School for the past 10 years. She previously served as a facilitator in the District.

HARDING MIDDLE SCHOOL

Adam Hanrahan, current Associate Principal at Wilson Middle School, will assume that role at Harding Middle School. He replaces Randy Noecker who is retiring. 

PIERCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Carla Davidson will become Principal at Pierce Elementary School. She has served as Jackson Elementary Principal for the past 10 years. She previously served as a first grade teacher and facilitator in the District. She will replace Becky DeWald who is retiring.

ROOSEVELT MIDDLE SCHOOL

David Brown, current Metro High School Principal, will move to Roosevelt Middle School as an Associate Principal.  A Metro principal will be named in early May.

SPECIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Michelle Lukavsky will become Associate Director of Special Services. She currently serves as Principal at West Branch High School. She is recognized as a strong instructional leader, passionate about serving the needs of all students. She will replace Cindy Donaldson, who is retiring. 

Lukavsky earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees, as well as an educational leadership endorsement, from Western Illinois University.

“The position of assistant services director is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the best possible services in special education district wide, as well as assist with other duties or situations as needed in an outstanding school district,” she said. “I am excited for this amazing opportunity to collaborate in an area of my passion to increase student achievement and ensure that we are providing best practice programs across the district.”  

VAN BUREN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kent Ryan will be principal at Van Buren Elementary School. He joins the District from the Davenport Community Schools where he is currently the Principal at Fillmore Elementary School.  He previously served as a Literacy Consultant with the Iowa Department of Education, specifically working with the Reading First initiative.  He replaces Cindy Stock who will become principal at Grant Wood Elementary School.

Ryan earned his undergraduate degree from Culver-Stockton College and a master’s degree and educational leadership degree from Drake University.

“I am very excited about the many good things I’ve learned are happening at Van Buren Elementary School,” he said. “Whether it’s Kids on Course, expansion of the English Language Learner (ELL) program, or the school’s work with the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, the staff and students are doing some amazing things. I am honored and feel privileged to become part of the Van Buren family. I can’t wait to meet the students, families, and staff.”

WILSON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Nikki Rowland, current Dean of Students at McKinley Middle School, will become Associate Principal at Wilson Middle School.  She replaces Adam Hanrahan who is moving to Harding Middle School. The McKinley position will not be filled.
