Calendar changes are possible with the 2014-15 school year.
Possible changes to the 2014-15 calendar would convert some early dismissals to full-release days and schedule spring break a week earlier.
If the calendar is revised, the early dismissals now scheduled for Oct. 8, Oct. 22, Nov. 5, April 15, April 29, and May 6 would become regular school days for students. Instead, full-release days would be scheduled on Friday, Oct. 24 and Friday, May 8. Staff would participate in professional development on those dates.
Additionally, spring break would be rescheduled to March 16-20, 2015, aligning with Kirkwood Community College and other area school districts. It is currently scheduled for March 23-27, 2015.
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on proposed calendar revisions at the July 14 meeting. Comments may be submitted in writing before that date to Laurel Day, in the Superintendent’s Office.
