Veteran / Experienced Teacher

Helping our beginning teachers to “thrive” not just survive their first years in the classroom takes a comprehensive system of supports.  It takes a collaborative approach to promote growth in beginning teachers.

As experienced teachers in Cedar Rapids, your support is important for beginning teacher success!  You may support our newest colleagues as a professional partner by:

  • Assisting beginning teacher with building professional relationships

  • Sharing content related resources

  • Helping beginning teacher find building supplies and resources

  • Supporting beginning teacher during PLC and Team Meetings

  • Lesson Planning/Unit Planning

  • Analyzing data from common formative assessments

  • Answering questions about district and building expectations

  • Recognizing what beginning teacher can bring to the table

The support given to our beginning teachers in Cedar Rapids Community Schools aligns with our district goals and is designed to help teachers move their instructional practice forward while working side by side with a full release, Grant Wood AEA i3 Induction Coach.

Through a partnership with the Grant Wood AEA Induction Consortium Network, our District Induction Team’s charge is to build a highly effective system of support through goal setting, impact planning and aligning our work with the New Teacher Center Induction Program Standards.
