Board of Education members John Laverty, Gary Anhalt, and Keith Westercamp were on hand to receive the 2016 Magna Award during the School Leaders Luncheon at National School Board Association’s  Annual Conference. The District’s Iowa BIG program (https://goo.gl/D3lvVS) was recognized as one of the 15 first place winners in the 5,000-20,000 enrollment category.

For more than 20 years, the Magna Awards panel of independent judges has reviewed programs that showcase school district leadership, creativity, and commitment to student achievement.

“I’m proud of the Board's vision and focus on creating meaningful educational choices for our students,” said John Laverty, Board of Education President. “We are very proud of Iowa BIG and congratulate the teachers, staff, students, and parents and business partners working together there.”

“Innovation and continuous improvement are at the center of our work,” added Dr. Brad Buck, Superintendent. “We are continually seeking ways to provide students with powerful, authentic learning experiences and working hard to create connections with the community.”
