District Grateful For Community Partners

The 2014 recognition of School + Community Partnerships was held on Nov. 5.

A recognition of businesses and organizations that partner with schools was held on Nov. 5. “A Galaxy of Stars” showcased the volunteerism of groups and organizations in District schools. Honorees were identified by school principals.

The program included a reception, student entertainment, special speakers, a video tribute, and the introduction of honorees. Some 70 businesses were introduced as either a partner or special service honoree.

Volunteer partners include for-profit businesses, non-profit agencies, and local organizations. The goal of each collaboration is to directly and positively strengthen the learning environment for students. The annual recognition is hosted by the District’s Community Relations Department.

“The School Community Partnership Program invites businesses and organizations to enrich our schools by donating time, expertise, materials, and funds,” noted Marcia Hughes, Community Relations Supervisor. “We are grateful for the priceless contributions they make to support students and staff. This annual recognition event is our opportunity to call attention to the volunteer partners who go above and beyond.”
