School Administrators of Iowa has named Sean Baylor, associate principal at Franklin Middle School, as the 2019-20 Iowa Assistant Secondary Principal of the Year.
SAI Executive Director Roark Horn added, “Sean exemplifies everything school leaders can accomplish with students, colleagues, and an entire learning community. He continuously prioritizes what is best for the students he serves and has their interests at the forefront of any decision-making. We’re fortunate to have him represent Iowa as Assistant Secondary Principal of the Year.”
In response to being recognized with the award for his leadership, Baylor expressed, “Here is what I say to kids and live by, ‘It doesn't matter where you come from, what matters is the work you are willing to put in to accomplish your goals and reach your destination.’ ”
Baylor has served as an associate principal at Franklin Middle School since 2007, and his career began as a fourth-grade teacher. He holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and elementary education, and his master’s in educational policy and leadership, all from the University of Iowa.
Baylor will be recognized at a governor’s ceremony in the spring and at SAI's Annual Conference, August 5, 2020.
