Jefferson High School student organizations have been busy during the past few weeks reaching out the community. Members of the baseball team recently served holiday dinner at the Salvation Army, while students in the SADD group pitched in at several local sites, volunteering as bell ringers for the organization. This marked the group’s 10th year as bell ringers.
Student Council members collected “like-new” stuffed animals and children’s books to donate to the Young Parents Network (YPN). The group also collected more than $100 from student and staff. They matched those funds to make a $200 to YPN. They also sponsored a food drive to support the Olivet Mission, collecting more than 1,000 canned items.
Additionally, Jefferson students and faculty donated spare change to help support Four Oaks, Catherine McCauley Center, Metro Care Connection, and HACAP. The Student Council pledged to match dollar for dollar for what was raised. More than $2,200 will be divided between the service agencies!
