The Old Creamery’s Theatre for Young Audiences program is currently touring schools, providing theatrical programming that supports the District’s social emotional and behavioral development goal.
The 2009 production Problem Solved! focuses on some of the challenges that young people are faced with and explores ways to solve those problems. The primary focus is on cooperation, compromise, and critical thinking. This 45-minute show features the writings of students in first through sixth grades, adapted by theatre’s professional artists and performed in using music, sound effects, and high energy.
“This production was a genuine feast for the senses,” explained Cindy Price, Garfield counselor. “The music was catchy and fresh. The costumes were vibrant and creative. The problem scenarios & solutions were kid-based, applicable, and in line with our curriculum.”
The Old Creamery Theatre is located in Amana, Iowa. Its Theatre for Young Audiences enrichment program was begun in 1971.
