The District is hosting two Open House Forums to gather community input related to the Enrollment and Facilities Study process.| 1 | 2 | 3 |
Parents, community members, and District employees participated in the first of two Open House Forums on Feb. 2 to learn more about the Enrollment and Facilities Study process and possible boundary changes and school closures. The event, held at Grant Wood AEA, was an opportunity to visit with Board of Education members, administrators, and consultants and review materials and maps. A similar event will be held Feb. 9 from 4-7 p.m. at Kennedy High School.
In considering declining enrollment and demographic shifts, the District engaged in a study of enrollment trends and facilities during the 2010-11 school year. Data from these studies was then reviewed and considered by a stakeholder committee of teachers, administrators, parents, community members, and consultants to provide recommendations to the superintendent. Dr. Dave Benson, Superintendent, will present administrative recommendations to the Board of Education on Feb. 13.
