Early Learning Preschool For 4 Year Olds

4 Year Old Preschool

Cedar Rapids Community School District offers two different funding sources for four-year-old children; Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP) and Shared Vision Funding. Children are eligible if they turn four on or before September 15, 2019.

We are proud to offer the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP) for four-year-old children. The purpose of Iowa’s Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program is to provide an opportunity for children in the State of Iowa to enter school ready to learn by expanding voluntary access to quality curriculum-based preschool.  The allocation of funds for the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program is intended to improve access to quality early childhood education and provide a predictable, equitable and sustainable funding method to increase the number of children participating in quality programs.  Therefore, the four-year-old preschool funds are intended to increase the number of children participating in quality programs. We have Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP) opportunities in 12 of our elementary schools:

Arthur Elementary
Cleveland Elementary
Coolidge Elementary
Grant Wood Elementary
Harrison Elementary
Hoover Elementary
Jackson Elementary
Kenwood Elementary
Nixon Elementary
Taylor Elementary

We also receive Shared Vision Funding which allows us to offer additional openings for four-year olds that qualify based on income. These preschool spots are limited, and priority enrollment will be given to families that qualify as low-income. You must provide proof of income when registering to be considered for these opportunities. These Shared Vision Funded opportunities are in the following 5 of our elementary schools:

Cleveland Elementary
Harrison Elementary
Kenwood Elementary
Taylor Elementary
Wright Elementary
