The District's Food and Nutrition Department supports itself through student and adult lunch sales, ala carte sales, and federal and state reimbursement for student meals.

All school meals meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans which recommends including no more than 30% of calories from fat and lowering sodium intake. The District menu planning allows for breakfast to account for one-fourth of Recommended Dietary Allowances and lunch provides an additional one-third of the the Recommended Dietary Allowance.
