Parents, community leaders, students, and staff attended the 2014 State of the District program held Dec. 12. The annual event showcased innovative instructional initiatives and featured several student presentations.
Dr. Dave Benson, Superintendent, hosted the program and shared details about completed and upcoming Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) projects. A team of students from The Roosevelt Option Program presented information about the new middle school learning environment. Iowa BIG students produced a video highlighting the rapidly-growing collaborative opportunity. Elementary students helped introduce segments of the program. Jefferson High School students introduced guest speaker Dr. Brad Buck, Director of the Department of Education. Washington High School’s “A Slice Of Jazz” choir wowed the crowd with a special performance. Staff highlighted new Teacher Leader System.
The event opened with video showcasing a ‘Day in the District.’ The program closed with the unveiling of the newly-redesigned District website.
