The District celebrated school volunteerism with a recognition program on April 28. One volunteer was chosen from each of the District’s 31 schools to represent that school community. The event included a reception, special introductions, and student entertainment.
“With so many individuals volunteering in our schools in so many different ways, the reasons for volunteering are almost endless,” noted Marcia Hughes, Community Relations Supervisor. “The key reason most volunteer in our schools is to help students to be successful. These individuals are passionate about education and about helping children. They are an indispensable workforce in our schools.”
During the 2012-13 school year, 7,029 volunteers – of all ages – contributed a reported 143,754 hours.
