The Board of Education has approved Kathleen Ziegler to serve as principal at Pierce Elementary School. Ziegler begins her new role on July 1, 2017.
During her 21-year tenure with the District, Ziegler has served as a teacher at Johnson Elementary School; a Reading Coach/ Instructional Design Strategist at Johnson and Grant elementary schools and Wilson School; and for the last three years has been a Professional Learning Facilitator, working with Building Leadership Teams and providing individual building support to principals and Instructional Design Strategists. Ziegler earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell College and her Masters and Administrative endorsement from the University of Northern Iowa. She also has a reading endorsement from Drake University.
“Kathleen will be a great addition to the Pierce staff,” said Val Dolezal, Executive Administrator of Preschool – 5th Grade. “Her leadership has led teams to look at and use data to help determine what some next steps could be for student success to learning. Her work in the District has led us to a great match for both the District administrative team and Pierce Elementary.”

Together we will build on the great foundation already in place at Pierce to make all learners future ready.”
Ziegler will replace Carla Davidson who is leaving the position at the end of the current school year.
