CRCSD Names Darius Ballard Washington High School Principal

Cedar Rapids Community School District today announces Darius Ballard has been named principal at Washington High School. Ballard was previously named Washington High School’s interim principal in July 2020. Pending board approval, Ballard will receive the principal title July 1, 2021. 

Ballard has served four years as an associate principal and the past eight months as interim principal at Washington High School. He previously taught science at Jefferson High School. Ballard has a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Northern Iowa and bachelor’s degrees in biology and secondary education from Cornell College.

“At CRCSD, we are delighted Darius Ballard will be leading the Washington family,” said Noreen Bush, Cedar Rapids Community School District superintendent. “His skill sets, hard work and passion for students and staff will all benefit the Washington community and the entire district.”
