The Safe Drinking Water Act requires the EPA to determine the level of contaminants in drinking water at which no adverse health effects are likely to occur with an adequate margin of safety. The threshold for when corrective actions are required is established as 15 parts per billion (ppb).  This level is consistent with the USEPA Lead and Copper Rule.  To ensure the District’s drinking water meets the EPA recommendation for lead, the District has adopted a testing schedule to identify potential problem areas that will allow the District to correct any high levels of lead in the drinking water.
