Community Involvement
Volunteer Services
The Volunteer Services Program is facilitated through the Community Relations Department. All District volunteers are considered education volunteers. Regardless of their level of participation (direct or indirect, building or District), their primary goal is to provide support for the educational needs of students. Education volunteers contribute support in several ways: individual building and community partnership programs; field experiences; as community resources speakers; as District-level volunteers. Volunteer involvement is tracked at each building and through the Community Relations Office.

Volunteer Diversity
During the 2015-16 school year, 6,968 volunteers contributed 137,165 recorded hours of service. Our generous volunteers outnumbered staff by more than 2 to 1 and represented all life stages. Parents made up 35% of volunteers, while 54% were adults with no children enrolled in our schools, 6% were students, and 5% were senior citizens.
