    Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation on Thursday, January 7, 2021, stating the lifted restrictions on sports and other recreational gatherings. According to the statement, the proclamation requires the continued use of masks at indoor public spaces when people are unable to social distance for 15 minutes or longer, while spectator limits for sporting and recreational gatherings, including high school events, will be lifted beginning today.

    Cedar Rapids Community School District was on track to provide a laptop to every student by the 2021-2022 school year. The pandemic, however, fast-tracked those plans. To prepare for the 2020 school year, the District issued a device to each student whether they planned to participate in virtual or in-person learning. The devices were also set up with a classroom management tool for teachers to monitor and assist with assignments, called GoGuardian.

    The September 21st school start date is fast approaching! We can’t wait to be together again, whether that is in-person or virtually. Please note that the deadline to make a change to your family choice for in-person or online learning is Friday, September 11th. After this date, you will not be able to make a change until October 12th, as we need to have plans in place for the beginning of this unique school year.

    We have good news to share! With so much unfortunate news these past many months, here is something to celebrate! Through the assessment of our building restoration process, we now have solidified - All 21 elementary school buildings will be able to host in-person instruction on September 21st, and three middle schools Harding, Wilson, and Roosevelt will now be able to host in-person instruction. ​

    In regards to the current state of our school district, all buildings have damage. All buildings will need attention. Some not as much as others, but attention none the least. We have major tree damage at all buildings. We have major roof damage at 16 buildings, minor roof damage at 12 buildings, and puncture damage and hood damage at the other 6.
