Dedric Roundtree, Music Teacher
Years at Grant - 6, and 11 years with CRCSD
What he loves about teaching music at Grant?
"The one thing I love is you get to see the finished result at the end of the year. Which is, It's almost like an art. You get the rough, the rough draft or the rough start but towards the end, you see them blossom, you see them bloom, then you see them move on, when they come back and they are able to take all the things that they were able to do as a result of all that in their minds you forced them to do but we made them able to do. That is the fun part.
Grant Explore is a program that places select 3rd graders with students from fourth and fifth grade. The program connects with what they need and goes at a pace for each student. Teachers teach to their passions while getting to know students as learners.
Grant SPARC is a Friday afternoon event where teachers share their passions with students as a way to build that relationship with students. All students in the school pick an option what suits their passion and complete a six-week cycle.
