Dear CRCSD Families,
This is communication regarding our Return to Learn mode of instruction for November 30th. Although we have seen a slight decline in the 14 day COVID-19 positivity rate within Linn County, it has not been significant. Additionally, the area healthcare system continues to be strained, and our CRCSD employees continue to be impacted with isolations, quarantines, or positive cases. Therefore, we have applied, via the Iowa Department of Education, to extend remote instruction, this waiver was approved on November 24th at 1:28 PM.
The county data has demonstrated a spike in positivity rates post holidays (Labor Day and Halloween, for example); therefore, we will keep an eye on the data after Thanksgiving. However, we would like to take this one week at a time. It is our greatest hope to get students back to in-person instruction as soon as possible.
Therefore, we have applied for the waiver for November 30 - December 11, but if conditions improve throughout the week of November 30th, there is a possibility that students may be able to return by December 7th. If that is possible, we will communicate by December 3rd to district families. Otherwise, students should plan to return to in-person instruction on December 14th.
Athletics and activities are suspended during the time of remote instruction.
We know that this year continues to put a strain on families; we do not take these decisions lightly. Please know that we will continue to monitor what is happening in the community as well as within our school district.
We do wish you a very safe and happy Thanksgiving.
